Construction Writing

Below are writing samples from the hundreds of articles I’ve had published in the Toronto Sun, the National Post, Homes North and other worthy consumer publications.

Okay, this progrm isn’t uploading any images. We will pause for station identification while I figure out why it won’t accept my uploaded images! Grrrrr……!

Welcoming Shelburne

The cozy, welcoming community of Shelburne is surrounded by pastoral countryside in a region that attracts people for an afternoon, a weekend or a lifetime. The town is nestled in a prime, rural landscape, large enough to have a thriving economy (4,000 population), and close by are amenities that the most discerning might demand. An hour’s drive from Pearson International Airport, Shelburne revels in its spectacular natural beauty and small-town heritage.

This is “a people place–a change of pace,” a slogan that reflects old-fashioned values of community and family. The locals’ love of their countryside is celebrated in churches and town halls with music; artists thrive in rural studios; and sports groups abound, such as soccer, hockey, lacross, figure skating and tae-kwon-do.Cultural events are many and varied.

The charming town lights up during August for the Old Time Fiddle Contest with parade. Grace Tipling Hall, a wonderfully entertaining antique theatre, is located in the restored Town Hall, one of many heritage buildings that lend timeless grace to the community. The region houses a dynamic and complex agricultural industry, with plenty of farm markets and pick-your-own operations.

A strong economic base includes access to jobs in neighbouring Orangeville or Toronto, plus three large manufacturers and an active Business Improvement Area in a downtown that is currently undergoing major revitalization. Close to half the adults over age 20 have post-secondary education, including university degrees.

From breathtaking panoramas atop the Niagara Escarpment to the glorious rushing waters of four major rivers, this rolling countryside offers the finest of rural Ontario charm. Visitors and residents alike enjoy the local landscape for the bounty of all-season recreation activities—hiking, snowmobiling, horseback riding, golfing, fishing, skiing, swimming—and those with more tender sensibilities enjoy the variety of dining, spa, shopping, arts and theatre opportunities.
